Whether you have an inquiry about separation or divorce, difficult parenting or complex property matters, we are able to assist you. We pride ourselves on providing practical, down-to-earth legal advice and guidance. We are acutely aware of the difficulties faced by our clients following the breakdown of a relationship, and during the family law process – we are there to support you as best we can.

At Bainbridge Legal we specialise in family law. Divorce, property division and child custody matters comprise the majority of the litigation work that we do. We are also experienced in estate planning, probate and family provision claims, as well as criminal law. When looking for a family lawyer near me, look no further than Bainbridge Legal family law solicitors.
Which lawyer will take my case?
We have a number of skilled lawyers who can assist you. We do our best to ensure that your case is taken by the solicitor with the skills, and the time available to assist you. Whether your matter is more straightforward, or more complex may also determine who is best placed to have carriage of your matter. We will work with you to balance the experience, cost and availability of the best lawyer for your case.
How much will my matter cost?
During your initial conference, a solicitor will take you through our Cost Agreement. This will provide you with information as to how we charge for our professional work and disbursements. The agreement outlines our hourly rates, which differ from lawyer to lawyer, and provides an estimate of costs based on how a typical family law matter might progress. Some work can be carried out on a fixed fee basis, for instance Wills, Divorce Applications and providing independent legal advice on Binding Financial Agreements.
Do I have to go to Court?
Not all matters end up in Court – if it is possible we will do what we can to help you avoid litigation. There are a number of alternative dispute resolution options that are available to parties in family law disputes. There are many good reasons, including limiting costs, time and stress as to why you might wish to avoid litigation. We are able to explore all options and help you negotiate a settlement outside of Court if this is possible.
What do I bring to my appointment?
Just bring yourself and any support person who might assist you, as well as your ID so that we can carry out a conflict check. If your matter is in Court, if you have been served documents or you wish to bring any other documents along, that can also be helpful.
What if I cannot come to a physical appointment?
Ever since COVID-19 everyone has been re-thinking how they meet and communicate, and we are no different. If you find it difficult to attend our family law office in Blacktown or Parramatta, we are more than happy to arrange telephone calls, video conferences or other modes of virtual meeting, to suit you. There may be some requirements to meet in person, for instance to witness documents, or attend Court, but there are sometimes ways to facilitate these happening remotely. In this sense, Bainbridge Legal can become your 'lawyer near me' wherever you might be located in Sydney.
Can you help me file an appeal?
Bainbridge Legal can assist in appealing orders from the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia
